1 Peter 1:1–6 (The Living Bible) 1 From: Peter, Jesus Christ’s missionary. To: The
Jewish Christians driven out of Jerusalem and scattered throughout Pontus,
Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia Minor, and Bithynia. 2 Dear friends, God
the Father chose you long ago and knew you would become his children. And the Holy Spirit has been at work in
your hearts, cleansing you with the blood of Jesus Christ and making you to
please him. May God bless you richly and grant you increasing freedom from
all anxiety and fear. 3 All honor to God, the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ; for it is his boundless mercy that has given us the
privilege of being born again so that we are now members of God’s own family.
Now we live in the hope of eternal life because Christ rose again from the
dead. 4 And God has reserved for his children the priceless gift of
eternal life; it is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the
reach of change and decay. 5 And God, in his mighty power, will make
sure that you get there safely to receive it because you are trusting him. It
will be yours in that coming last day for all to see. 6 So be truly
glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though the going is rough for a while
down here.
Matthew 26:26–30 (NASB95) 26 While they were
eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it
and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27
And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them,
saying, “Drink from it, all of you; 28
for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for
forgiveness of sins. 29 “But I say to you, I will not drink of
this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you
in My Father’s kingdom.” 30 After singing a hymn, they went out to
the Mount of Olives.
John 6:53–57 (CJB) 53 Then Yeshua said to
them, “Yes, indeed! I tell you that unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man
and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
has eternal life—that is, I will raise him up on the Last Day. 55
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever
eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I live in him. 57
Just as the living Father sent me, and I live through the Father, so also
whoever eats me will live through me.
1 Corinthians 11:23–33 (NKJV) 23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you:
that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took
bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said,
“Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of
Me.” 25 In the same manner He
also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in
My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s
death till He comes. 27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or
drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the
body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so
let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats
and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not
discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak
and sick among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge
ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are
chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. 33
Therefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.
Leviticus 17:11 (The Living Bible) 11 For the life of the flesh
is in the blood, and I have given you the blood to sprinkle upon the altar
as an atonement for your souls; it is the blood that makes atonement because it
is the life.

that we followed when we told you of the power and coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For when He
received such honor and glory from God the Father, when from the majestic glory
there was borne to Him a voice like this, “This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom
I take delight.” 18 we heard this voice ourselves borne from heaven
while we were with Him on that sacred mountain. 19 So we have the
message of the prophets more certainly guaranteed. Please pay attention to this message as to a
lamp that is shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning
star rises in your hearts; 20 because you recognize this truth above
all else, that no prophecy in Scripture
is to be interpreted by one’s own mind, 21 for no prophecy has
ever yet originated in man’s will, but men who were led by the Holy Spirit
spoke from God.]
