Why Don’t You Open Your Ears And Listen

Jesus realized what they were discussing and said, “No, that isn’t it at all! Can’t you understand? Are your hearts too hard to take it in?  Your eyes are to see with—why don’t you look? Why Don’t You Open Your Ears And Listen.”

To: ALL WHO HAVE EARS TO HEAR
From:  GOD THE FATHER, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST HIS SON and Ministered through the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD, The Helper, that He may be with you forever. [John 14:16]
Subject:  MY WORD;   John 1:1 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.   John 1:14 (NKJV) 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Mark 8:13–21 (The Living Bible) 13So he got back into the boat and left them, and crossed to the other side of the lake. 14But the disciples had forgotten to stock up on food before they left and had only one loaf of bread in the boat. 15As they were crossing, Jesus said to them very solemnly, “Beware of the yeast of King Herod and of the Pharisees.” 16“What does he mean?” the disciples asked each other. They finally decided that he must be talking about their forgetting to bring bread. 17Jesus realized what they were discussing and said, “No, that isn’t it at all! Can’t you understand? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? 18‘Your eyes are to see with—why don’t you look? Why don’t you open your ears and listen?’ Don’t you remember anything at all? 19“What about the 5,000 men I fed with five loaves of bread? How many basketfuls of scraps did you pick up afterwards?” “Twelve,” they said. 20“And when I fed the 4,000 with seven loaves, how much was left?” “Seven basketfuls,” they said. 21“And yet you think I’m worried that we have no bread?”

Matthew 16:1–12 (The Living Bible)   One day the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus’ claim of being the Messiah by asking him to show them some great demonstrations in the skies. 2-3He replied, “You are good at reading the weather signs of the skies—red sky tonight means fair weather tomorrow; red sky in the morning means foul weather all day—but you can’t read the obvious signs of the times! 4This evil, unbelieving nation is asking for some strange sign in the heavens, but no further proof will be given except the miracle that happened to Jonah.” Then Jesus walked out on them. 5Arriving across the lake, the disciples discovered they had forgotten to bring any food. 6“Watch out!” Jesus warned them. “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 7They thought he was saying this because they had forgotten to bring bread. 8Jesus knew what they were thinking and told them, “O men of little faith! Why are you so worried about having no food? 9Won’t you ever understand? Don’t you remember at all the five thousand I fed with five loaves, and the basketfuls left over? 10Don’t you remember the four thousand I fed, and all that was left? 11How could you even think I was talking about food? But again I say, ‘Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’ ”12Then at last they understood that by yeast he meant the wrong teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Luke 12:54–56 (AMP) 54 He also said to the crowds of people, When you see a cloud rising in the west, at once you say, It is going to rain! And so it does. 55 And when [you see that] a south wind is blowing, you say, There will be severe heat! And it occurs. 56 You playactors (hypocrites)! You know how [intelligently] to discern and interpret and prove the looks of the earth and sky; but how is it that you do not know how to discern and interpret and apply the proof to this present time?

Mark 9:1–7 (The Living Bible) 1 Jesus went on to say to his disciples, “Some of you who are standing here right now will live to see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!” 2 Six days later Jesus took Peter, James and John to the top of a mountain. No one else was there. Suddenly his face began to shine with glory, 3 and his clothing became dazzling white, far more glorious than any earthly process could ever make it! 4 Then Elijah and Moses appeared and began talking with Jesus! 5 “Teacher, this is wonderful!” Peter exclaimed. “We will make three shelters here, one for each of you. . . . ” 6 He said this just to be talking, for he didn’t know what else to say and they were all terribly frightened. 7 But while he was still speaking these words, a cloud covered them, blotting out the sun, and a voice from the cloud said, This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.”

Mark 9:7 (AMP) 7 And a cloud threw a shadow upon them, and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is My Son, the [most dearworthy] Beloved One. Be constantly listening to and obeying Him!

Isaiah 6:1–10 (Tanakh) 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I beheld my Lord seated on a high and lofty throne; and the skirts of His robe filled the Temple. 2 Seraphs stood in attendance on Him. Each of them had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his legs, and with two he would fly. 3 And one would call to the other, “Holy, Holy, Holy! The Lord of Hosts! His presence fills all the earth!” 4 The doorposts would shake at the sound of the one who called, and the House kept filling with smoke. 5 I cried, “Woe is me; I am lost! For I am a man of unclean lips And I live among a people Of unclean lips; Yet my own eyes have beheld The King Lord of Hosts.” 6 Then one of the seraphs flew over to me with a live coal, which he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 He touched it to my lips and declared, “Now that this has touched your lips, Your guilt shall depart And your sin be purged away.” 8 Then I heard the voice of my Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me.” 9 And He said, “Go, say to that people: ‘Hear, indeed, but do not understand; See, indeed, but do not grasp.’ 10 Dull that people’s mind, Stop its ears, And seal its eyes— Lest, seeing with its eyes And hearing with its ears, It also grasp with its mind, And repent and save itself.”

[Please Note:  Always Read the Word of God in Context, reading the entire chapter or book, asking the Holy Spirit of the Living God to give you the interpretation.   2 Peter 1:16–21 (Williams)   16  For it was not mere stories of fancy that we followed when we told you of the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For when He received such honor and glory from God the Father, when from the majestic glory there was borne to Him a voice like this, “This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom I take delight.” 18 we heard this voice ourselves borne from heaven while we were with Him on that sacred mountain. 19 So we have the message of the prophets more certainly guaranteed.  Please pay attention to this message as to a lamp that is shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 because you recognize this truth above all else, that no prophecy in Scripture is to be interpreted by one’s own mind, 21 for no prophecy has ever yet originated in man’s will, but men who were led by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.]
Philippians 2:9–11 (The Living Bible)9 Yet it was because of this that God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name which is above every other name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
