Refuse Trifling Controversies Over Ignorant Questionings, For You Know That They Foster Strife And Breed Quarrels

“Shun youthful lusts and flee from them, and aim at and pursue righteousness (all that is virtuous and good, right living, conformity to the will of God in thought, word, and deed); [and aim at and pursue] faith, love, [and] peace (harmony and concord with others) in fellowship with all [Christians], who call upon the Lord out of a pure heart.  But Refuse (shut your mind against, have nothing to do with) Trifling, (ill-informed, unedifying, stupid) Controversies Over Ignorant Questionings, For You Know That They Foster Strife And Breed Quarrels.  And the servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome (fighting and contending). Instead, he must be kindly to everyone and mild-tempered [preserving the bond of peace]; he must be a skilled and suitable teacher, patient and forbearing and willing to suffer wrong.”

To: ALL WHO HAVE EARS TO HEAR

FromGOD THE FATHER, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST HIS SON and Ministered through the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD, The Helper, that He may be with you forever. [John 14:16]

Subject:  MY WORD;   John 1:1 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.   John 1:14 (NKJV) 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Proverbs 10:11–14 (Tanakh) 11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But lawlessness covers the mouth of the wicked. 12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers up all faults. 13 Wisdom is to be found on the lips of the intelligent, But a rod is ready for the back of the senseless. 14 The wise store up knowledge; The mouth of the fool is an imminent ruin.

Proverbs 10:12 (YLT) 12 Hatred awaketh contentions, And over all transgressions love covereth.

Proverbs 10:12 (The Living Bible) 12 Hatred stirs old quarrels, but love overlooks insults.

Proverbs 10:12 (CJB) 12 Hate stirs up disputes, but love covers all kinds of transgressions.

Proverbs 13:10 (CJB) 10 Insolence produces only strife, but wisdom is found with those who take advice.

Proverbs 13:10 (YLT) 10 A vain man through pride causeth debate, And with the counselled is wisdom.

Proverbs 13:10 (The Living Bible) 10 Pride leads to arguments; be humble, take advice, and become wise.

Proverbs 13:10 (Tanakh) 10 Arrogance yields nothing but strife; Wisdom belongs to those who seek advice.

Proverbs 13:10 (AMP) 10 By pride and insolence comes only contention, but with the well-advised is skillful and godly Wisdom.

Proverbs 17:1 (AMP) 1 BETTER IS a dry morsel with quietness than a house full of feasting [on offered sacrifices] with strife.

Proverbs 17:1 (The Living Bible) 1 A dry crust eaten in peace is better than steak every day along with argument and strife.

Proverbs 17:1 (YLT) 1 Better is a dry morsel, and rest with it, Than a house full of the sacrifices of strife.

Proverbs 30:32–33 (YLT) 32 If thou hast been foolish in lifting up thyself, And if thou hast devised evil—hand to mouth! 33 For the churning of milk bringeth out butter, And the wringing of the nose bringeth out blood, And the forcing of anger bringeth out strife!

Proverbs 30:32–33 (The Living Bible) 32 If you have been a fool by being proud or plotting evil, don’t brag about it—cover your mouth with your hand in shame. 33 As the churning of cream yields butter, and a blow to the nose causes bleeding, so anger causes quarrels.

Philippians 1:12–18 (NKJV) 12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, 13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. 15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: 16 The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

2 Timothy 2:20–26 (AMP) 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also [utensils] of wood and earthenware, and some for honorable and noble [use] and some for menial and ignoble [use]. 21 So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work. 22 Shun youthful lusts and flee from them, and aim at and pursue righteousness (all that is virtuous and good, right living, conformity to the will of God in thought, word, and deed); [and aim at and pursue] faith, love, [and] peace (harmony and concord with others) in fellowship with all [Christians], who call upon the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But refuse (shut your mind against, have nothing to do with) trifling (ill-informed, unedifying, stupid) controversies over ignorant questionings, for you know that they foster strife and breed quarrels. 24 And the servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome (fighting and contending). Instead, he must be kindly to everyone and mild-tempered [preserving the bond of peace]; he must be a skilled and suitable teacher, patient and forbearing and willing to suffer wrong. 25 He must correct his opponents with courtesy and gentleness, in the hope that God may grant that they will repent and come to know the Truth [that they will perceive and recognize and become accurately acquainted with and acknowledge it], 26 And that they may come to their senses [and] escape out of the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him, [henceforth] to do His [God’s] will.

[Please Note:  Always Read the Word of God in Context, reading the entire chapter or book, asking the Holy Spirit of the Living God to give you the interpretation.   2 Peter 1:16–21 (Williams)   16  For it was not mere stories of fancy that we followed when we told you of the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For when He received such honor and glory from God the Father, when from the majestic glory there was borne to Him a voice like this, “This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom I take delight.” 18 we heard this voice ourselves borne from heaven while we were with Him on that sacred mountain. 19 So we have the message of the prophets more certainly guaranteed.  Please pay attention to this message as to a lamp that is shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 because you recognize this truth above all else, that no prophecy in Scripture is to be interpreted by one’s own mind, 21 for no prophecy has ever yet originated in man’s will, but men who were led by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.]

Philippians 2:9–11 (The Living Bible)9 Yet it was because of this that God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name which is above every other name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
