Subject: MY WORD
John 6:47–52 (AMP) 47 I assure you, most
solemnly I tell you, he who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in,
relies on, and has faith in Me] has (now possesses) eternal life. 48
I am the Bread of Life [that gives
life—the Living Bread]. 49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the
wilderness, and [yet] they died. 50 [But] this is the Bread that
comes down from heaven, so that [any]one may eat of it and never die. 51
I [Myself] am this Living Bread that
came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he will live forever; and
also the Bread that I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh (body).
52 Then the Jews angrily contended with one another, saying, How is
He able to give us His flesh to eat?
John 6:53–59 (NKJV) 53 Then Jesus said to
them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man
and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats My
flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last
day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56
He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood
abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and
I live because of the Father, so he who
feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread which came
down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who
eats this bread will live forever.” 59 These things He said in the
synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.
John 6:60–65 (NASB95)
60 Therefore many of His disciples,
when they heard this said, “This
is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?” 61 But Jesus,
conscious that His disciples grumbled at this, said to them, “Does this cause
you to stumble? 62 “What then if you see the Son of Man
ascending to where He was before? 63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words
that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. 64 “But there
are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they
were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him. 65 And
He was saying, “For this reason I have
said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the
Father.”
John 6:63–65 (The Living Bible) 63 Only
the Holy Spirit gives eternal life. Those born only once, with physical birth,
will never receive this gift. But now I
have told you how to get this true spiritual life. 64 But some
of you don’t believe me.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who didn’t believe
and knew the one who would betray him.) 65 And he remarked, “That is
what I meant when I said that no one can come to me unless the Father attracts
him to me.”
John 6:66–71 (AMP) 66 After this, many of
His disciples drew back (returned to their old associations) and no longer
accompanied Him. 67 Jesus said to the Twelve, Will you also go away?
[And do you too desire to leave Me?] 68 Simon Peter answered, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words
(the message) of eternal life. 69 And we have learned to believe and
trust, and [more] we have come to know [surely] that You are the Holy One of
God, the Christ (the Anointed One), the Son of the living God. 70
Jesus answered them, Did I not choose you, the Twelve? And [yet] one of you is
a devil (of the evil one and a false accuser). 71 He was speaking of
Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, for he was about to betray Him, [although] he
was one of the Twelve.
